Men in Black: are they for real?

Men in Black: are they for real?

The plot behind the movie Men in Black did not just come from the imagination of the writer but from some uncorroborated yet massive evidence of black-suited outer space agents who intimidate both humans and aliens.

The mystery surrounding the sightings of unidentified flying objects apparently include eh sightings of strange men who were often seen in places and events involving alien and extra terrestrial sightings.

These men allegedly intimidate humans who have witnessed UFO landing, alien abductions, strange occurrences and other phenomena that would strongly suggest the existence of extra terrestrial beings.  Some people believe the men in black are government agents who want to suppress all information about aliens.

Witnesses say the men in black confiscate anything that would prove the existence of extra terrestrial beings from photographs, video footage, audio recordings and other physical evidence that would reveal the naked truth about creatures from outer space.

And just like in the movies, the men in black are seen not riding unidentified flying objects, but expensive and strange cars like Cadillacs without plate numbers to identify the passengers or the owners.   The vehicles carrying men in black are reportedly seen after sightings of unidentified flying objects and other extra terrestrial phenomenon.

Fact is stranger than fiction and if UFO believers are to be believed, these men in black are either agents of the government or extra terrestrials themselves but both wanting to keep their existence a secret.

A lot has been said about the men in black.  An editor of a publication specializing in UFO matters admitted he would have written about the men in black and their relationship to the UFOs but he was scared to death when he was honored by their presence.

Other authors claim the men in black belong to a secret society and they can be identified through the Eye of Horus, which figured during the Ancient Egyptian time.   The symbol is allegedly used by the men in black to identify themselves from their enemies.

While most publications describe the men in black as human-like, there are people espousing the conspiracy theory who describe the men in black as men with radiant eyes that glower on their targets.

Just like the UFOs, the existence of the men in black has never been proven.  And just like all the other people who have witnessed UFOs, those who have reported MIB sightings have also been placed in a bad light and accused of having hallucinations.

It has often been said that we Americans today are a bit paranoid; that we always tend to believe that something is out to get us, or something is being kept from us. It certainly seems that we were a bit paranoid about UFOs.

The alleged existence of UFOs and of men in black could just be the result of a very active imagination or a result of an overwhelming paranoia affecting the whole universe.  They could also be for real.  But until such time that their existence can be proven scientifically then the men in black, just like the UFOs, will just remain a figment of man’s imagination.

Ufology, Anyone?

Ufology, Anyone?

People have always-been complacent with the thought that they are the only beings in this world and that they own the universe.  That was before the sightings of unidentified flying objects gave rise to the thought that maybe, there are other beings, more intelligent and more advanced than humans.

The unidentified flying objects or UFOs has gained so much interest that a separate branch of study known as Ufology has been dedicated especially for UFOs and all other matters related to outer space.  Sporadic UFO sightings all over the world have made every human being think back and wonder if they really own the universe in the first place.

There was a time when a person who relates himself with any UFO-related sighting, incident or phenomena would place him in the category of loony folks.  This can be understood because scientists have never really put their stake on the legitimacy of UFOs.

While there are people whose obsession with unidentified flying objects and aliens can be classified as nearing lunacy, there are people whose interest in the UFOs are valid and scientific.  Sad to say, only a few scientists would dare identify himself with the UFO phenomenon and risk his career and position in the scientific community.

Despite this seeming prejudice against those who believe in UFOs and the possibility of the existence of a more superior race in the galaxy and beyond, Ufology has never reached that status given to other scientific studies. For the scientific community, Ufology has always been a pseudoscience.

Some respected personalities in the scientific world may have embraced Ufology but it has never been considered serious enough by those in the academe for it to warrant a place in the universities.  Of course there are universities offering Ufology courses to satisfy the lust of people interested in UFOs but one can never get a degree in Ufology.

The Academe has never considered the research methods of Ufologists valid or scientific enough to warrant a place in the roster of great scientific discoveries and research.  The sector could not be blamed though because most Ufologists tend to believe whatever they can get their hands on without resorting to the standards of research imposed by the Academe.

Ufology consists of a lively bunch of scholars, from the pseudo scientists on the verge of being called quacks to the more respected scientists.  No matter what the stand of these scientists are on UFOs their comments and opinions are equally important in building a solid data on Ufology.

Some scientists have suggested that Ufology should best be approached in a compartmentalized way which means several aspects of the study of UFOs should be studied separately.  These scientists also suggest that Ufology will benefit from a good case documentation process which consists of the procurement of physical and other evidence, collection of important data systematically and then an evaluation of the various theories based on a set of facts.

If Ufologists want to elevate Ufology’s category in the realm of science, they should veer away from forming conclusions without basing such conclusions on hard evidence, laboratory analysis and scientific data.  They should welcome Ufology critics because by hearing out people who do not believe in what Ufology is, they will be able to come up with a more believable and scientifically acceptable study of UFOs.

Haunted lives

Haunted lives

You might have heard of things that go bump in the night but apart from cracking your shin against furniture in the dark, have you heard something else go bump during the night? Did wake up with the feeling that there had been a sound and yet found no cause for it? There are individuals who go through experiences that leave them with only one conclusion and that is that they are living in the constant company of ghosts. In other words, their lives are haunted. The movie Sixth Sense included the now famous line, “I see dead people.” Imagine the plight of someone who actually did manage to do exactly that and for their whole life.

We all have different reactions to the concept of ghosts. Some people get scared, some people get all sympathetic, and some look on it as a kind of thrill seeking. One thing however remains common with all people; any apparition no matter how brief or any visual illusion that resembles a ghost fills everyone with fear for at least a few moments. Television shows like Ghost Hunters might be said to enjoy their popularity partly because people truly are curious about ghosts and the rest of audience is waiting for something to leap at them so that they can feel that edge-of-the-seat rush they get from a horror movie.

The hunters in Ghost Hunters are regular folks during daytime and have their day jobs. At night, they visit places reputed to be haunted and basically try to prove that there are no ghosts and that everything can be explained. Most of he time they succeed in doing so and their explanations are logical enough. Unfortunately, there are occasions when our heroes come across something that defies all logic and stubbornly points to paranormal sources.

Ghosts, like the paranormal and other powers like psychic abilities, have not been proven to exist. Hence, the scientific mind will never accept that they are real and will insist that everything seen and felt has natural causes and the people experiencing the sensations are deluded through no fault of their own. However, there are some things that are not so readily explained and neither so simplistically. Science sometimes fails to answer certain phenomena and in the absence of a very real result but no explainable cause, the reasoning human will only conclude that the cause must exist but is simply not visible for some reason.

The concept of a ghost and haunting is recorded way back in human history, making the observer wonder how something so unreal could stay with humanity through so many changes. The common explanation across cultures and religions is that ghosts are the spirits of the dead that are unable to leave this plane for some reason or simply do not realize they are dead because the death was sudden.

Among the various types of ghosts, the poltergeist is the most troublesome because it has the maximum interactivity with humans. It is only thing to feel someone is there and entirely another to have that invisible someone toss things at you and make your life miserable. These are the type considered to be demons. The friendliest type of ghost is the messenger ghost. This ghost knows that the body is dead but stays a bit longer to comfort loved ones.
